History

          Chatrapati Rajashri Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, the Son of Late Karveer Hutamata Chatrapati Chauthe Shivaji Maharaj, was a source of inspiration to the “Ahmednagar Jilha Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj” which was established in 1918. The institution runs 7 Senior Colleges, one Engineering College, one Law College, one college of Physical Education, one Hotel Management Institute, 20 Junior Colleges, 45 High-Schools and one Primary School. The main object of the institution is to impart education to the economically backward, downtrodden and weaker sections of the society irrespective of the caste, creed, sex and religion. The growth of the institution during the past 90 years is noteworthy with its motto “Tejo Si Tejo Me Dehi”.

            Rajarshi Shahu Mahavidyalaya, Deolali Pravara was established in August 2004  by this institution. The main purpose behind these is to provide higher education to the student of Deolali Pravara and surrounding villages. It is situated in a village about 50 kms away from Ahmednagar, 105 kms from Aurangabad and 175 kms from Pune. The college is a multi faculty college with many programmes at the under graduate and the post graduate levels. The college is affiliated to the University of Pune. The range of the programmes, options available to the students are B.A.(Politics, Hindi, Geography), B.Sc.Chemistry, B.Sc.(Computer Science), B.B.A.(CA), M.Sc.(Computer Science).

It is a matter of great pride that the institution provided higher education to the rural students in the past when there was no college in Rahuri Tahasil. The college started with 37 students in 2004 and at present the total enrollment is 675 at senior college level .
The main object of the college is to make all-round development of students and make them responsible citizens to lead our country to the globalised world with dignity and honor.
